I live in Dallas, and I am saddened and sickened by what happened here.
When Martin Luther King delivered his iconic “I have a dream” speech, he said that he longed for the day when a man would be judged by the content of his character, not by the color of his skin.
Why is this so hard to do?
I have been dealing with the promotion of FAKE diversity for decades (FAKE diversity divides people into superficial groups based on ethnicity or color and then insists in treating everyone in each group as though they have no individuality – they’re all the same.)
All white people – or black people – or Hispanics – need to be treated a certain way – you have to UNDERSTAND they are different than us. Really? Explain to me how this is different from saying that all black people like watermelon?
All white people are bigots; no, not ALL whites any more than ALL blacks, ALL Hispanics, all… any racial group you can think of.
And ALL police officers are NOT out to get anyone – most of them ARE trying to do two things – protect the general public AND make it home at the end of the day. Sadly, five in Dallas did not make it home this morning.
There is injustice in the world, but not all tragedies are the result of injustice – sometimes they are just tragedies. Please stop feeding the narrative that led to this. PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE; ALL LIVES MATTER.
When will we ever learn?
This week’s personal Smashwords coupon is for “The Red Barrens”:
“You have been found by this court to be a vagrant in violation of Proteus ordinance 2071-043, and will be remanded to civil authorities for placement.” This pronouncement following her husband’s death from Agent Purple exposure puts Mabel Jeffers on the colony’s Edge, where she’s forced to play her part in terraforming a resistant planet with that same Agent Purple. But there are things that are worse than death – things that could drive her over The Edge and into The Barrens.
This one started simply with the double entendre of the title and grew from there. Use coupon code BE25C to get 67% off the cover price at Smashwords (that’s only 99-cents – such a deal!) – it’s good until July 2nd. Here’s the link:
“The Red Barrens” is also available in the collection – And Yet Still Even More Things I Could Get OUT OF MY MIND.
I’m participating in Smashwords’ site-wide Summer/Winter Sale promotion – for the month of July, all of my collections are 50%-off with a coupon (those coupons are listed on the individual page for each book – it’s SSW50 in case you have trouble finding it.)
That means each is only $2.50. The coupon applies to my seven OUT OF MY MIND collections, plus my Herc Tom Collection Cats of War I and the Detective Jimmy Delaney collection Broken Down.
