Sum-it-up Sunday: Insulated, Intent, Individuality

FBI Director James Comey laid out the case that Hillary had broken a law about the proper handling of National Security information, and that her private email account was most likely hacked by our enemies. Then he said that “no reasonable prosecutor” would indict her because even though she exhibited gross negligence in the handling of TOP SECRET information, she didn’t INTEND to do it.

The law she broke doesn’t care what your INTENT is – only whether you did the wrong thing, which she did in spades. Is he saying she was too INCOMPETENT to handle the material? How can incompetence be a defense for someone running for the most powerful office in the world? I would think it would be difficult to do that job without a security clearance; I guess we’ll see…

When Martin Luther King delivered his iconic “I have a dream” speech half a century ago, he talked of the day that a man would be judged by the content of his character, not the color of his skin. Why does everything still come down to color? People assume that if a black person is shot by a cop, no matter what the cop’s color, it was because the victim was black, and charges of RACISM are immediately shouted before we know the whole story. How does this help anyone?

The wheels of justice are slow for a reason – so that we can find out all the FACTS, and THEN we can arrive at an INFORMED conclusion. Don’t rush to judgement.

Five officers in Dallas are shot dead, and another seven wounded by a black man who said he WANTED to kill WHITE people and WHITE POLICE OFFICERS for what they did in two other states. Even people who don’t condone the killing understand it, because we ALL know that ALL whites and ALL police are the same, don’t we? Just like ALL blacks are?

We are ALL INDIVIDUALS, and responsible for OUR OWN actions and words. Please – can we ALL stop painting our FELLOW HUMANS with the sins of people who LOOK LIKE them?

Just saying…
