Writing Wednesday: Swordsmaster Preorders BEGIN!

Weekly Goals:

I made my three blog posts last week, but no comments on anyone else’s blogs; the fun of dealing with house repairs, contractors, insurance, and my “day job” isn’t leaving me a lot of time or energy. Fear isn’t the mind-killer; it’s STRESS (well, some of my stress could be defined as FEAR, but not all of it.)

I’ve also started a piece of short fiction (the contest entry I’ve mentioned), but I’m only 545 words into it (far short of my 3,000-words-per-week goal) That’s the first little bit of fulfilling the TEN pieces of short fiction I’m supposed to write this year.

With LIFE doing its job on me, I’ve had to make decisions about where my true priorities lie. Of course, what’s going on in our lives takes priority over my writing (I know – what’s with that, right?), but and all that takes away time from what I have on my writing list.

Right at the front of that list is Swordsmaster‘s release. If I’m going to handle this right, then it MUST make the start of its preorder campaign (it has – see below the next divider.) Of course, just being set up for preorder isn’t enough – I have uploaded my drafts, but there seems to be a problem with the formatting in the epub version on Smashwords (tied to my table of contents); I want to have that fixed before the deadline of my final draft.

I still need to draw the final version of my map of Caladon; I have a rough sketch of that in the manuscript now, just to make sure I could include it, but I want something nicer looking, so that will take some time (and I can’t find a way to credit myself with WORD-COUNT for drawing a map – a silly concern of mine, but no matter – it must be done.)

I also need to make EXTRA certain that my manuscript is clean of errors, so I’ll be doing at least one more read-through to catch any misspellings, punctuation, word-choices, and such I may have missed over the last few revisions (yeah, I know – I’ve already done the FINAL revision, but it’s not over until it’s over.)

All changes need to be finished in time for the FINAL version to be uploaded about five days ahead of the release date, so all my other writing goals take a backseat. As I’m sure I’ve said far too often, this story has occupied FORTY YEARS OF MY LIFE, so I WILL NOT let it slip.

I’ll still make sure to do my three weekly blog postings – because Swordsmaster needs the promotion. And then, if I find myself with any “extra” time, I’ll be writing some short fiction because… A WRITER MUST WRITE.

Just saying…

The preorder campaign has begun for Swordsmaster!!!Swordsmaster4

Fate is neither something to run away from, nor something to run towards.

The first bright-eye to be seen on the mountain in living memory, Sandrik didn’t want anyone to think of him as they did the ominous Aurae of legend, so he had worked hard to keep his special abilities hidden. But there was more to Sandrik than even he knew. Now that it was time for him to enter the ancient ruins of Taernfeld and be declared a man, what other changes might he be forced into?

Swordsmaster is my very first novel, and is really worth a read if I do say so myself (WHICH I DO! How can you go wrong with a story that’s been FORTY YEARS IN THE MAKING?). The release date is September 27th, but Swordsmaster is available for preorders now at a SPECIAL PROMOTIONAL PRICE at several online retailers, including, but not limited to:
