This year has been my most successful at making my weekly goals; I made it every week until week 19, and then missed again last week (week 21.) I admit to getting frustrated at those two FAILED weeks, and I’m already seeing signs that this week will become a third. Yes, life is happening and getting in the way of my objectives.
But is it? Continue reading

Meandering Monday about Strength vs. Passion
Ages ago (well, not ages – just some time during the twenty years I spent on my last day job), I was introduced to a personality assessment tool called StrengthsFinder. You’d answer a series of questions, and then you’d be presented with a list of your five strengths. My strengths were: Stategic (thinking of the … Continue reading
Fractured Fragment Friday: Murder, Catnapping, Intrigue, and Secret Alliances – All Under the Cloak of “Imperial Purrogative”
For the next few Fractured Fragment Fridays, we’re visiting the twelve stories in my Herc Tom, Champion of the Empire series. “Imperial Purrogative” is the FIFTH Herc Tom tale. It was time to revisit the Rotter Dame, and bring justice to the as yet undiscovered conspirators who had enabled the Rotters to return to Ramses in … Continue reading
Writing Wednesday: A Quick Note About Critiques
When you offer criticism, it helps to know what kind of criticism the author is looking for, AND what they are trying to achieve in their writing. We don’t all have the same reasons for writing, and our goals vary. Quite often I hear (and receive) criticism based on HOW YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO WRITE, as opposed to what fits with the voice of the author or the story itself. Continue reading
Meandering Monday about Artificial Stupidity and Watching Employment Change From The Sidelines
I’m a Baby Boomer – right from the middle of that generation. I managed to avoid Woodstock and hippie culture, Vietnam (although I remember watching the draft lottery to see where my birthday wound up each time, even though I was too young for it to matter.) I had fantasies that I would make my … Continue reading
Fractured Fragment Friday: A Rare Diplomatic Mission Sets Up Our Hero For The “Baastard’s Revenge”
For the next few Fractured Fragment Fridays, we’re visiting the twelve stories in my Herc Tom, Champion of the Empire series. “Baastard’s Revenge” is the FOURTH Herc Tom tale. The devious cats of Baast don’t view our hero with fondness – Herc Tom has single-handedly (well, at least he thinks so) thwarted their last two attempts … Continue reading
Writing Wednesday:Returning to Swordsmaster: Deception
Last Week’s Goals All three posts went up as scheduled. I had three stories to place this Monday, and was only able to place one of them again. Encountered markets closed to submissions, or closed forever, or closed to the “unoppressed.” Frustrating, but it is what it is. My next release date is June 9th … Continue reading
Meandering Monday about Checks, Balances, Faith, and Fail-safes
Trigger Warning: As conservatives are being persecuted throughout the country, inflation is killing us, war sems to loom everywhere, and the Occupier of the White House continues to usher millions of illegal immigrants into the U.S. in violation of the law, his oath of office, and the Constitution, the author of this blog feels compelled … Continue reading
Fractured Fragment Friday: Herc Tom Finds Himself in an Unexpected Alliance of “Cat and Mouse”
For the next few Fractured Fragment Fridays, we’ll visit the twelve stories in my Herc Tom, Champion of the Empire series. Next up is “Cat and Mouse.” In the third installment of Herc Tom, Champion of the Empire, I felt it was time to get away from a feline only milieu and add in a couple … Continue reading
Writing Wednesday: Another Round of Pantser Quandary
I joked recently that I write fantasy because then I can just make things up. There is some truth to that, but even though I have flexibility in what I let happen in my imaginary world, I must have rules, and the story must maintain consistency within those rules. I can’t let Sandrik do something near the end of SM#3 that was never even hinted at in SM#2, unless I want the readers to throw the book against the wall. Continue reading
